🌆 EVENING WRAP · Sat 3 Oct 2026 · Expert Brief
A quiet 24 hours for verified news, so tonight's lead is the practical question: how to run Tanzania's US$44 insurance rule on its first weekend.
━━━━━━━━━
1️⃣ TANZANIA'S US$44 INSURANCE IS NOW LIVE: ONE POLICY PER TRIP, BOUGHT AT THE FIRST POINT OF ENTRY
The rule comes from Government Notice No. 256 of 4 September 2026: US$44 per visitor, valid up to 92 days with multiple entries (ATTA, 29 Sep). For a combined Mainland and Zanzibar itinerary, one policy is required, based on the first point of entry; Zanzibar entry uses a separate portal (ATTA, 29 Sep). The UK FCDO added the rule to its Tanzania advice on 1 Oct (FCDO, 1 Oct). We found no report of airport queues, portal failures or airline check-in refusals since 1 Oct. That is absence of evidence, not proof of a smooth start. Our inference: the risk is a guest who bought the wrong policy, not no policy.

🎯 So what: tell guests to buy for their first entry point, keep the QR or certificate on their phone, and state in writing whether your package price includes the US$44.
2️⃣ STILL TRUE: DRC EBOLA IS ABOVE 4,000 DEATHS, UGANDA STAYS CLEAR, AND THE US ORDER RUNS TO 11 OCTOBER
DRC reports more than 8,000 infections and over 4,000 deaths (The Citizen, 2 Oct). Uganda's outbreak ended on 27 Aug (UK FCDO, 2 Sep). The US entry order covering DRC, Uganda and South Sudan runs to 11 Oct unless modified (CDC order, effective 11 Sep). Germany's Kenya advice was edited on 3 Oct with no level change (Auswärtiges Amt, 3 Oct).
🏷 City, Bush | Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya | Confirmed | impact:risk
🎯 So what: keep flexible terms for US-bound guests until the order is renewed or lapses.
🏗 DEAL FLOW: No verified EA deal flow in the window. voco Nairobi Airport Suites (IHG, 25 Sep) and Elewana's Ngorongoro Explorer Lodge (4 Sep) already ran on 27 Sep.
📻 ALSO TONIGHT
🇰🇪 Ronald Ngala Utalii College, Kilifi, unveiled a new kitchen with capacity for 3,000 diners on 2 Oct; the college has 300 of an expected 4,000 students (Ministry of Tourism, 2 Oct).
💰 CBK, 25 Sep bulletin: usable reserves US$15,042m (6.1 months of import cover); KES129.48 per US$ on 24 Sep (CBK, 25 Sep).
📅 WEEK AHEAD EWURA's October fuel caps are normally published about 7 Oct (our inference; September caps took effect 2 Sep). NISR's September CPI is due about 10 Oct; August was 15.7% urban (NISR, 10 Sep). US entry order expiry 11 Oct. EPRA's next review is about 14 Oct.
🔍 BLIND SPOTS: Kenya Gazette No. 175 (2 Oct) unread, as the source returned 403; France's Kenya advice and WHO's outbreak-news page had no usable date; CBK's 2 Oct bulletin was not retrievable.
