Magical Kenya Travel Expo, 6–8 October, Uhuru Gardens.
Kenya's Magical Kenya Travel Expo opens in Nairobi today with a projected 10,000 delegates, about 30% more than in 2025
🌆 Evening Wrap · Tue 6 Oct 2026
A thin day for new rules. Tonight leads with the expo that opens today and an airline withdrawal whose stated reason does not fit its dates.
━━━━━━━━━
1️⃣ Magical Kenya Travel Expo, 6–8 October, Uhuru Gardens
The Kenya Tourism Board projects more than 10,000 delegates from 40 countries, against 7,691 in 2025, with 400+ exhibitors and 250+ international buyers (KTB via HapaKenya, 29 Jul). Those are organiser projections; we found no opening-day attendance figure. Our arithmetic: 250 buyers are 2.5% of 10,000. Delegates are not room nights. Most are Kenyan trade and visitors who sleep at home; the buyers decide where overseas clients are sent next season. Separately, a CBK survey put August–November forward bookings at 56.25% against 49.5% a year earlier (CBK via Business Daily, 25 Aug).

🎯 So what: do not discount Nairobi rooms into 6–8 Oct on headcount alone. Book your buyer meetings now and follow up within 48 hours, while the contact is fresh.
2️⃣ Jambojet has stopped Mombasa–Zanzibar flights, blaming fuel and Tanzania's US$44 insurance
Business Daily reported on 29 Sep that Jambojet stopped the route, citing "surging fuel costs" and the mandatory inbound insurance, and called it "commercially unviable"; the carrier now flies no international route (Business Daily, 29 Sep; Tourism Update, 5 Oct). The dates disagree: AeroRoutes recorded the last flight on 26 April (AeroRoutes, 9 Jun), and the insurance only took effect on 1 October. Our reading: the insurance is at most a late justification. We have no Jambojet statement.
🏷 Beach, City | Kenya, Zanzibar | Reported | impact:demand
🎯 So what: if you sell Mombasa–Zanzibar twin-centre stays, assume no low-cost direct link and price the connection in.
🏗 DEAL FLOW: No verified EA deal flow in the window.
