The US has renewed its entry ban on travellers from Uganda, DRC and South Sudan for 30 days from 11 October

1️⃣ The US has renewed its entry ban on travellers from Uganda, DRC and South Sudan for 30 days
Yesterday's open question is closed. The CDC order was signed 9 Oct and took effect at 5pm EDT on Sun 11 Oct, for 30 days. It bars non-US citizens who were in DRC, Uganda or South Sudan in the last 21 days. Kenya is not listed. Uganda is still covered, although its outbreak was declared over on 27 Aug (CDC order, 11 Oct; UKHSA, 4 Oct). The order does not state an exact end date; we read it as running to about 8–10 Nov.
Our inference: a Kenya or Rwanda leg on the same itinerary does not trigger the ban, but a Uganda leg in the prior 21 days does.
🎯 So what: for non-US guests heading to the US after a Uganda leg, tell them now. Keep flexible terms on Uganda add-ons until early November.

2️⃣ WHO's 12 Oct count shows 127 Kenyan Ebola contacts, 94 in quarantine
WHO Kenya reports one confirmed imported case, 127 listed contacts, 94 in quarantine, and over 665,000 travellers screened. It delivered about US$70,000 of PPE and test kits (WHO Kenya, 12 Oct). On 11 Oct the CS reported 108 of 122 in quarantine (Kenyans.co.ke, 11 Oct). The sources differ and WHO gives no reason. Busia County also admitted no screening at the Mulwanda water crossing with Uganda (Citizen Digital, 8 Oct).
Our inference: the case count has not moved, so the hotel effect stays administrative, such as the meeting suspension of 7 Oct.
🎯 So what: quote the 12 Oct WHO figures if clients ask, and keep your own screening log.

3️⃣ DRC's Ebola count reached 8,978 confirmed cases and 4,336 deaths by 10 Oct
The 10 Oct report shows 64 new confirmed cases in 24 hours, in Ituri (30), Nord-Kivu (25), Haut-Uélé (7) and Tshopo (2). It also lists 2 cases in Sud-Ubangi province (INSP RDC SitRep 149, published 11 Oct). UKHSA had 8,603 cases at 4 Oct (UKHSA week 40). No cross-border case is mentioned.
Our inference, mixing two sources: roughly 62 cases a day since 4 Oct, against about 70 a day in the week before. The source for the earlier week is UKHSA's +487.
🎯 So what: treat DRC as the driver of US and Gulf-carrier rules for the rest of October.
