Five stories, one pattern. Tanzania's airlines stay barred from EU skies on the regulator's file, not any aircraft fault (DG MOVE, 9 Jun 2026). Britain logged Uganda's Ebola all-clear on 2 September; Washington has not. In 21 days the EU stops accepting "eco" and starts demanding a certificate. Nine in ten reservation calls produce no guest record. And Kenya would fold the body keeping its arrivals series into the body paid to market the country (The Kenya Times, 21 Aug 2026).

What everyone is missing. The reflex is to call this unfair — Tanzanian aircraft are safe, Uganda has no Ebola, the lodges are low-impact. All true, all irrelevant. Buyers have stopped trusting claims and started pricing them, and an unverified claim now trades at a discount. Verification is the cheapest yield lever here, and one of the few not hostage to airlift or a foreign government. It arrives as an absence, not an argument: quietly out of the 2027 brochure, never told why.

The US holds Level 4, re-issued 4 June 2026 (travel.state.gov, checked 6 Sep). DRC — the stated ground — has 6,342 confirmed cases to 2 Sep (ECDC, 4 Sep). WHO opposes travel restrictions; ECDC puts EU/EEA risk "very low".

Directive (EU) 2024/825 applies 27 September 2026: generic "eco/green/sustainable" barred without recognised certification, "carbon neutral" via offsets barred outright (EUR-Lex; Sustainable Travel International, 5 Aug 2026).
