Two Insurance Charges Now Sit on One Itinerary.

A Kenya–Tanzania safari now carries two US$44 insurance charges, and every government that added a cost this week added it at the border

The seams between destinations changed this week. Kenya's High Court upheld its US$44 visitor insurance on 7 October; Tanzania's mainland charge has applied since 1 October. A guest flying Nairobi to Kilimanjaro pays twice: US$88 a head (our arithmetic; some are exempt).

What everyone is missing: these are filed as separate stories. Together they show governments pricing and policing the crossing, not the destination. A twin-centre trip has the most crossings per sale, and the guest's decision to keep it is set by the most awkward border, not by your lodge. Your terms cover one leg; the risk covers all. Jambojet began daily Nairobi–Entebbe on 1 Oct (AeroRoutes, 24 Jul). The patient flew it on 3 Oct (Health Ministry, 7 Oct). It stopped Mombasa–Zanzibar, citing fuel and the insurance (Business Daily, 29 Sep; dates conflict with AeroRoutes).

3️⃣ SCREENING NOW DIFFERS AT THE SEAM
The patient passed temperature checks at Entebbe and Nairobi; Kenya added a JKIA gate for Congo-linked arrivals (Reuters, 7 Oct). Tanzania lifted extra screening for Uganda arrivals (ATTA citing FCDO, 1 Oct; page not opened). WHO advised against closing borders (7 Oct).

4️⃣ THE OVERLAND LEG IS GETTING DEARER
Tanzania's September inflation was 4.3%, transport 14.0% (NBS, 8 Oct). EWURA raised October caps 5–10% (Daily News, 8 Oct). Kenya's oil workers served a strike notice (Kenyans.co.ke, 10 Oct).
