Uganda is clean. The number that governs the American ban is not — and it just moved the wrong way.

1️⃣ Uganda's Ebola-free — but the ban tracks Congo, not Kampala
Uganda declared its Bundibugyo outbreak over on 28 July (Ministry of Health): 20 confirmed cases, two deaths, every transmission chain closed. Next door, WHO's Weekly External Situation Report 11 (data to 26 July) puts DR Congo at 3,262 confirmed cases and 1,437 deaths — Ituri alone spread across 28 of 36 health zones, with under 80% of identified contacts traced. The US CDC entry suspension, renewed 13 July and running to roughly 12 August, names Uganda alongside DRC and South Sudan. It keys off the regional caseload — and that caseload is still climbing.
🎯 So what: Do not sell "Ebola-free Uganda" as reopened access to US-origin guests. The declaration is a reassurance asset, not a border change — hold any "restrictions lifted" line in pre-arrival comms until CDC republishes.

2️⃣ Airlines fight border-data charges — at your guests' expense
IATA, AFRAA and AASA jointly urged African governments (30 July) to align Advance Passenger Information and PNR systems with ICAO standards, and opposed states charging airlines for border-security data. Fragmented, fee-loaded schemes raise the cost and friction of the long-haul seats East African resorts depend on.
🎯 So what: A watch item, not an action. Uncoordinated API/PNR = pricier tickets and slower immigration lines — track it before it reaches your ADR.
