EA HOSPITALITY PULSE β Morning Brief

1οΈβ£ πΊπΈβπ THE US EBOLA ENTRY ORDER EXPIRES TODAY β RENEW OR LAPSE BY 4:59PM EDT
The CDC's 30-day Title 42 order covering travellers recently in the DRC, Uganda and South Sudan expires at 4:59pm EDT today (Federal Register 2026-14365, order signed 13 July). As of this morning no renewal has been published β we haven't seen the decision reported anywhere yet. The pattern says it renews (it did on 21 June and 13 July), but the question that matters for us is whether Uganda stays coupled to the DRC or gets decoupled ahead of its 42-day Ebola all-clear (~28 Aug).
Where it stands now (CDC returning-travellers page, 7 Aug): the DRC is a hard block β nobody, US citizens included, boards a US-bound flight within 21 days of leaving. Uganda and South Sudan are lighter: US citizens and nationals aren't restricted, but permitted travellers are rerouted to four US airports (Dulles, Atlanta, Houston, JFK) for screening. Uganda remains US Level 4.

π― So what: If you sell US guests on Uganda or Rwanda gorilla circuits, the framework is being re-decided today. Any itinerary that touches eastern DRC still triggers the 21-day block. Brief agents now; we'll carry the outcome this evening.
2οΈβ£ π·πΌ KWITA IZINA IS BACK β 22 GORILLAS, 4 SEPTEMBER, A ROOM-NIGHT SQUEEZE FOR VOLCANOES
The Rwanda Development Board formally unveiled plans for the 21st Kwita Izina on 11 August: 22 baby mountain gorillas named at Kinigi, Musanze, on Friday 4 September (RDB, 11 Aug; Taarifa, 11 Aug). It is Rwanda's flagship conservation event and it pulls high-end conservation travel into a narrow window.

π― So what: Volcanoes NP's premium lodges β some of the priciest beds in Africa β compress hard around ceremony week. Hold rate through early September rather than discounting into the shoulder; if you're on the KigaliβMusanze road, expect the pre/post spill.
β STILL TRUE β Advisory board unchanged: Uganda US Level 4; Kenya Level 2; Tanzania & Zanzibar Level 3.
