Jambojet Returns to Entebbe — Daily, from 1 October.
1️⃣ 🇰🇪➡️🇺🇬 JAMBOJET RETURNS TO ENTEBBE — DAILY, FROM 1 OCTOBER
Jambojet resumes Nairobi–Entebbe after six years away: daily flights plus cargo from 1 October 2026, one-way from about KSh 22,950 (Bizna Kenya, 21 Aug 2026). Announced 20 Aug at a TUGATA breakfast in Kampala. The airline projects ~300,000 Kenya–Uganda passengers in 2026 and is selling onward links to Mombasa, Diani, Malindi and Lamu.
Straight with you: we flagged Jambojet's press page as a blind spot on 18, 19 and 21 Aug. It moved today at 11:50 EAT. This is what was behind it — we were late.
🎯 So what: Ugandan corporate and leisure demand into the Kenyan coast just got a cheap daily seat. Kenyan coast properties — build a Kampala-facing rate and a two-centre package NOW, not in October; Q4 contracting closes before the route flies. Kampala city hotels — expect a modest inbound business bump and firmer midweek. 🏷 City/Beach · KE·UG · Confirmed
2️⃣ 🇰🇪 CBK PUBLISHED ITS JULY SURVEYS TODAY — AND KENYA'S ONLY HOTEL BOOKING DATA WITH THEM
CBK posted its July 2026 Market Perceptions, CEOs and Agriculture surveys today (centralbank.go.ke, 24 Aug 2026): inflation seen holding within the target band despite fuel pressure, optimism sustained.
What almost nobody in the trade uses: that panel includes 96 hotels, and CBK publishes their forward bookings by city. Per the May 2026 edition — Nairobi's June reading ran 71 against 45 a year earlier; Mombasa 60 vs 56; national average 62 vs 51. Nairobi is carried by MICE. The coast is not moving with it.
🎯 So what: free, official, city-level booking-pace data. Benchmark your own pace against it instead of guessing. 🏷 City/Beach · KE · Confirmed
3️⃣ 🌏 THAILAND REVIVES ITS TOURIST FEE AT US$14 — SIX YEARS AND FIVE REVERSALS IN
Thailand's National Tourism Policy Committee has endorsed a THB 450 (~US$14) arrival fee, up from the original 300 baht, now heading to a 30-day consultation then Cabinet; air arrivals first, from late 2026 or early 2027 (Skift, 24 Aug 2026). It lands with arrivals near 33m in 2025 against a 40m pre-pandemic peak.
🎯 So what: read it as a mirror. Kenya is mid-stack — US$30 ETA in force, a US$50,000 mandatory travel-health insurance rule gazetted 30 Jul but not operational and under High Court challenge (mention 29 Sep). Thailand's lesson is that a fee announced five times and collected zero times still damages trade confidence. Price your 2027 contracts on what is collected, not what is gazetted. 🏷 All · KE/Regional · Reported
🟢 STILL TRUE — no EA advisory level moved. Kenya US Level 2 (re-issued 28 Jul 2026), Uganda 4, Tanzania & Zanzibar 3 (since 31 Oct 2025), Rwanda 3. Don't pre-emptively discount.
💲 COST PULSE — Nairobi diesel KSh 217.86/L, super KSh 214.03/L (EPRA, 14 Aug). Inflation: KE 6.4% · TZ 4.0% · UG 3.7% · RW 13.6%. KES→USD 129.30 (CBK).
