Ethiopian Airlines has filed to more than double its Addis–Kilimanjaro–Zanzibar service from 30 November.
Ethiopian Airlines has filed to more than double its Addis–Kilimanjaro–Zanzibar service from 30 November. We have not seen this reported anywhere in the East African trade press yet.

1️⃣ ETHIOPIAN GOES DAILY INTO KILIMANJARO AND ZANZIBAR — FROM 30 NOVEMBER
Ethiopian has filed a schedule increase on the Addis Ababa – Kilimanjaro – Zanzibar – Addis triangle: from the 3 weekly originally filed to 7 weekly, effective 30 November 2026 (AeroRoutes, published 04 September 2026). Overall Ethiopian service into those two airports rises from 17–18 weekly to 21. The rotation is ET855, a 737-800: ADD 23:00 → JRO 01:20 → ZNZ 03:30, back into ADD 07:00.
Read the clock before you read the capacity. Kilimanjaro receives at 01:20 and dispatches at 02:10; Zanzibar receives at 03:30 and dispatches at 04:20. That is a connecting bank feeding the Addis wave from Europe, Asia and the Gulf — not leisure timing. What arrives with it is night transfers and 06:00 arrivals at your gate, from guests on a through-fare who will not pay a supplement for an early room.
The demand side is where the caution sits. Zanzibar's arrivals growth has cooled: +19.2% year-on-year in January 2026, +4.9% in February, +3.1% in June, +9.6% in July (Office of the Chief Government Statistician, monthly releases). Seats are landing into the December–March peak faster than arrivals are currently growing.
🎯 So what: publish a priced 06:00 early-check-in policy before 30 November — you will be asked. And stress-test your peak rate strategy against arrivals growth of three per cent, not nineteen. New lift is not new demand.

2️⃣ 92% OF LUXURY HOTEL PHONE CALLS CAPTURE NOTHING
A Revinate mystery-shopper study of 308 calls to 135 luxury and upscale properties found 92.2% captured no guest contact detail, and staff asked zero discovery questions on more than half the calls (via Hospitality Net, 4 September 2026). The sample is North American. The failure is not.
Our transmission is direct. EA lodges and camps run far more enquiry by phone and WhatsApp than a European city hotel, and far more confirmed business through agents. The direct enquiry is the one channel where you own the guest record outright. Losing the name and email on nine calls in ten means paying commission twice — to whoever converts the guest this year, and again next year because you cannot reach them.
🎯 So what: mystery-shop your own reservations line this week. One call, at 19:00. If your team quotes a rate before asking for a name and an email, that is a free fix worth more than any channel-mix project you have.
