Nairobi's CBD Is Out of Bounds Tomorrow.

1️⃣ NAIROBI'S CBD IS OUT OF BOUNDS TOMORROW. THE PROCESSION FORMS AT ALL SAINTS.

Nairobi Regional Police Commander Issa Mohamud said tonight the Regional Security Committee has resolved that large political rallies will not be permitted around the CBD (The Star, 12 Sep 2026, 19:47 EAT). The Linda Mwananchi rally runs anyway tomorrow — procession All Saints Cathedral → Jacaranda Grounds (The Standard, 12 Sep). He cited "credible information" that groups may be mobilised "to intimidate and confront rival groups", and named tourists among those he is protecting. In Embu today, one dead and six vehicles torched outside DP Kindiki's UDA meeting (Daily Nation, 12 Sep).

🎯 So what: All Saints is the CBD's western edge — Serena, Norfolk, Upper Hill — and tomorrow is a Sunday check-out day. Tonight: reroute JKIA transfers off Uhuru Highway and Kenyatta Avenue, hand arriving guests a written route note, move F&B and housekeeping shifts earlier. 2️⃣ BURIED IN THE SAME BRIEFING: 18 FOREIGN NATIONALS, ONE STATION.

Mohamud also disclosed that Central Police Station alone has recorded 18 cases of foreign nationals assaulted, robbed or threatened, 11 already before court — Burundian, Chinese and Somali. A separate Kilimani file concerns threats circulated on social media. He set it against "heightened tensions surrounding the presence of foreigners in some businesses" (The Star, 12 Sep), alongside reporting on a foreign-trader crackdown (The Standard, 12 Sep).

🎯 So what: the state invoked visitor safety to restrict assembly and, in the same breath, put a figure on visitor-safety incidents. Central covers the CBD; Kilimani is serviced-apartment territory. Exposure lands on staff before guests — no solo closing shifts, no late cash runs, no unaccompanied journeys home this week for non-Kenyan payroll.

3️⃣ ✏️ CORRECTION — ZANZIBAR DID NOT COOL. IT SET A RECORD.

On 5 September we said stress-test peak rates "at three per cent, not nineteen". Wrong. OCGS reports 124,481 arrivals in August — a record, +18.0%, Jan–Aug 633,228, bed occupancy 92.9%. Kenya is now the largest African source market at 7,911, up 75.2% (OCGS via The Citizen, 10 Sep).

🎯 So what: June was a trough, not a trend. Reverse any Dec–Mar repricing done off our 5 September read, and chase that Kenyan 75.2% direct — it is short-haul and late-booking, and most properties still sell it through European operators at 20–25% commission.
