Tigrayan forces took Mekelle, Axum and Shire airports on 23 Sep; Ethiopian suspended all three (The Reporter, 23 Sep) and reportedly Lalibela on 24 Sep. On 25 Sep the US Embassy told citizens not to travel to Amhara (incl. Lalibela), Tigray or Afar "for any reason" (via Kenyans.co.ke, 26 Sep). The FCDO widened its Afar no-go zone on 24 Sep; Tigray and Amhara were already all-travel (gov.uk, read 26 Sep).

What everyone is missing. No notice touches Addis or Bole; FCDO carves out the capital's corridors. The exposure is the itinerary: any Lalibela or Axum leg paired with a safari is unsellable, and its nights need a home.
