1️⃣ Tanzania's fuel caps rose 5–10% for October, with Kyerwa petrol at TSh 4,370

EWURA's October maximum retail prices took effect 7 Oct. Dar es Salaam: petrol TSh 4,057 (+261 from 3,796), diesel 4,086 (+209 from 3,877), kerosene 4,067 (+354 from 3,713). Tanga petrol is 4,123, Mtwara 4,170, Kyerwa (Kagera) 4,370. EWURA cites renewed Middle East tensions (Daily News, 8 Oct, reporting EWURA). Our arithmetic: petrol +6.9%, diesel +5.4%, kerosene +9.5%.
Our inference: the lodge cost is distance from port, not Dar. Fuel to Serengeti, Kagera and Ruaha camps carries a premium on top, and game-drive diesel is the line that moves.
🎯 So what: re-cost October-December vehicle and generator runs at the October caps before you issue 2027 contract rates.

2️⃣ Uganda's Parliament pressed the government on 7 October to explain rising pump prices

Minister Musenero attributed the rise to the shilling moving from about Shs3,600 to Shs4,000 per dollar, a Shs200 excise increase in the 2026/27 budget and global supply pressure. MPs asked for UNOC's selling-price breakdown, suspension of the excise rise and tax relief. She had not received the breakdown and the debate was adjourned (Parliament of Uganda, 8 Oct). One MP asked for supply-disruption planning tied to instability in Kenya.
🎯 So what: a weaker shilling hits imported food and beverage costs as well as fuel. Do not lock Uganda dollar-priced rates for 2027 until the statement on the economy lands.

3️⃣ WHO's Tedros advised against closing Kenya's borders on 7 October; EAC health ministers record no border measures

Tedros told CS Duale that screening and contact tracing work better than blanket restrictions (Kenyans.co.ke, 8 Oct). Kenya counts 10 people in quarantine and 57 contacts being traced, including passengers and crew. A suspected case in Wajir, reported by The Standard, has no published lab result. The EAC health ministers' communiqué of 8 Oct records no border measures and no case counts (eac.int).
🎯 So what: stay with the line "imported case, no local transmission". Do not repeat the Wajir report to agents until a result is published.
