━━━━━━━━━
1️⃣ Kenya's EPRA review is reported to add about KSh12 to petrol and KSh9 to diesel from 15 October

The review for 15 Oct to 14 Nov was due at 4 pm on 14 Oct. Pulse Kenya (14 Oct) and The Kenya Times (14 Oct) report rises of about KSh12 on petrol and KSh9 on diesel, citing landed costs: super petrol at Mombasa up from about US$1,199 to US$1,385 a tonne, diesel from US$1,200 to US$1,313 (August to September). Pulse's own pump prices contradict each other, so we quote none. Rigathi Gachagua claimed them beforehand; Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi rejected him, saying EPRA sets prices (Capital FM, Allafrica, 14 Oct). To 14 Oct: Nairobi petrol KSh214.03, diesel KSh217.86.
Our inference: matching figures prove nothing either way.
🎯 So what: check EPRA's notice tonight, then re-cost transfers and generator diesel. Fuel clauses belong in 2027 contracts.

2️⃣ Kenya's 8% VAT on fuel is due to lapse, and a bill would extend it 90 days to mid-December

The 8% rate on petroleum was due to expire 14 Oct. The Tax Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, sponsored by Majority Leader Kimani Ichung'wah, would keep it for 90 days. Cost to the Treasury: over KSh36bn (Eastleigh Voice, 14 Oct). The 9 Oct bill set 8%; the extension is new.
Our inference: if the bill is not passed in time, the rate reverts, adding to tonight's rise.
🎯 So what: ask your fuel supplier which VAT rate is on tomorrow's invoice.

3️⃣ Uganda's Energy Minister blamed the weaker shilling for about Shs300 a litre on pump prices

Monica Musenero told Parliament the shilling moved from about Shs3,790 to Shs4,035 per US dollar between early September and 5 Oct. She added that a Shs200 a litre excise rise took effect 1 July. Some MPs want tax relief; the IEA cites "unprecedented tightness" in diesel (The Independent, 14 Oct).
🎯 So what: Ugandan lodges with US$ rates and shilling fuel bills should pass fuel through in 2027 contracts and watch for any excise relief.

🌍 EAC–Germany, Berlin: €3–5m for a regional climate project; German programmes trained 500 lab experts (EAC, 14 Oct).
