1️⃣ Kenya confirmed its ninth Ebola case on 20 October, a relative already in quarantine, with 134 of 135 contacts traced

Our last count was eight. The patient, 24, is a relative of the first case and was in quarantine when he fell ill. Director-General Patrick Amoth says all nine belong to one cluster, eight are stable, and most contacts go home from 25 October. Kenya has restricted no travel or trade (Al Jazeera, 20 Oct; Pulse.co.ke, 21 Oct; Ministry statement not read).
Our inference: a case inside quarantine is containment working, but the count still rises.
🎯 So what: tell guests the cases sit in one traced cluster; do not claim "Ebola-free".

2️⃣ El Salvador ordered entry refused to travellers from or through Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia among eight countries

Kenyans.co.ke cites El Salvador's Health Ministry Official Letter No. 2026-6000-055: arrivals from or via the listed countries "will be declared inadmissible". The rest are Angola, Burundi, the DRC and the Central African Republic; some have no cases. No effective date (Kenyans.co.ke, 21 Oct, 07:36 EAT; letter not seen). Foreign Affairs PS Korir Sing'oei called the US Level 3 "more of a caution" (Kenyans.co.ke, 21 Oct).
Our inference: Rwanda and Ethiopia are listed without cases, so blanket bans are a risk for every market. El Salvador is a small source market.
🎯 So what: check your source markets' entry rules before promising refunds; WHO advises against restrictions.

3️⃣ Nigeria confirmed an imported Ebola case on 20 October in a woman who had travelled to Uganda, which says it has no active cases

WHO's Africa office says lab testing confirmed Bundibugyo virus on 20 October. Symptoms began 7 October, four days after arrival; 44 contacts are monitored and her source is unresolved. WHO again advises against travel or trade restrictions (WHO AFRO, 20 Oct). Uganda's Director General of Health Services, Charles Olaro, said exposure may not have happened in Uganda and that it has "no confirmed active Ebola cases" (Daily Monitor, 20 Oct).
Our inference: a Uganda link risks pulling gorilla-circuit bookings into the scare.
🎯 So what: if you sell Uganda, put Olaro's statement in your agent briefings.
