1️⃣ Uganda's gorilla-tourism pledge evaluation says only 33% of operators brief tourists, and lodges need NEMA impact certificates before December

An IGCP-commissioned evaluation of the Gorilla Friendly Pledge was validated in Kampala on 28 October. Of 250 respondents (Dec 2025–Feb 2026), 95.2% had taken the pledge and 73.6% had training, but only 33.2% had briefed tourists. It cites weak enforcement, unregulated tipping and reflective glass near lodges, urges UWA to run a carrying-capacity assessment, and tells lodges to hold NEMA environmental and social impact certificates before December 2026. UWA's Charles Tumwesigye said certification should follow. No permit or tariff change was announced (The Independent Uganda, 29 Oct).
Our inference: certification plus a capacity study is the likely route to tighter rules; the NEMA deadline is the only dated item.
🎯 So what: check your NEMA certificate status this week and put the pledge in the pre-arrival brief.

2️⃣ Kenya Airways now flies Nairobi–Dubai 14 times a week, with the second daily frequency effective 25 October

The expanded schedule took effect on 25 October, "14 flights per week in each direction". Aircraft and times were not stated (Tourism Update, 28 Oct).
Our inference: more Gulf-hub seats for Europe and Asia connections; fares and load factors are unpublished.
🎯 So what: ask Gulf-routed agents for the new times before you quote 2027 transfer plans.
🏷 City, Bush, Beach | Kenya | Confirmed | impact:demand

3️⃣ Uganda and Kenya tour associations signed three MoUs at the Mombasa coast summit on 26–27 October

AUTO with KATO, the travel agents' associations of both countries, and Private Sector Foundation Uganda with KNCCI Mombasa. Kenyan arrivals in Uganda rose from 466,902 (2024) to 519,041 (2025); Uganda sent 234,556 to Kenya. Targets: two digital tourism prototypes and ten operator links within three months; a communiqué is due within two weeks (ATTA, 27 Oct).
🎯 So what: coast properties should pitch Ugandan operators before the communiqué lands, about 10 Nov.
🏷 Beach, City | Kenya, Uganda | Confirmed | impact:demand
