Uganda's Inflation Rose to 4.6% in September, Well Below Kenya's 6.8%.

1️⃣ UGANDA'S INFLATION ROSE TO 4.6% IN SEPTEMBER, WELL BELOW KENYA'S 6.8%

UBOS put annual inflation at 4.6%, with prices up 0.9% in the month, led by food after prolonged dry spells; hospitality and transport prices also rose, and fuel stayed above UGX 6,600 a litre in some areas (UBOS via Nile Post, 30 Sep). UBOS's statistician expects pressure to ease from November if rains improve. Kenya's September figure was 6.8% (KNBS via People Daily, 30 Sep). Tanzania was 4.3% in August, with September not yet out (Bank of Tanzania, Sep review). Our inference: the three markets are not repricing at the same speed, and Kenyan cost lines are moving fastest.

🎯 So what: if you contract in Kenya shillings, write an escalator into 2027 supplier terms now; in Uganda, hold food contracts to the November easing window.

2️⃣ JAMBOJET HAS RETURNED TO NAIROBI–ENTEBBE, DAILY, AFTER A SIX-YEAR GAP

Flights resumed on 1 October on Dash 8 Q400 aircraft, about 65 minutes, with introductory fares from roughly KSh 22,950 one way (Pulse Kenya, 2 Oct). Capital FM dates the first flight 2 October (Capital FM, 2 Oct); the sources differ by a day. A low-cost second carrier on a busy corridor lowers the cost of a Kenya-Uganda combined itinerary.

3️⃣ TANZANIA NO LONGER APPLIES HEIGHTENED HEALTH SCREENING TO ARRIVALS FROM UGANDA

The UK FCDO's Tanzania advice says the extra measures no longer apply to Uganda arrivals, while enhanced screening for the DRC stays (ATTA citing FCDO, 1 Oct). We have not opened the FCDO page itself. It removes a friction point for Uganda-Tanzania circuits.
