1️⃣ Kenya's Ebola count stands at nine cases, two deaths and two patients still in treatment

What happened. Five men, two at Kenyatta National Hospital and three at The Nairobi Hospital, tested negative and went home on 3 November. Kenya has recorded nine confirmed cases and two deaths (22.2%), all in one cluster linked to the first imported case, with no new infection since 19 October. Another 46 contacts left quarantine today, making 66 released; 52 remain and are due out by 11 November (KBC, 3 Nov; The Standard, 3 Nov; Reuters via TimesLIVE, 3 Nov).
The 42-day countdown starts only when the last patient has recovered or been buried; travel, trade and gatherings stay unrestricted (KBC, 3 Nov).
Our inference: two patients remain in hospital, so the clock has not started. If both left by 11 November, the earliest end date would be about 23 December.

🎯 So what: keep "Ebola-free" out of your marketing until the Ministry declares it, and quote its figures to anxious bookers.

2️⃣ Kenya's Health Ministry confirmed Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have imposed travel measures on Kenya

What happened. The Ministry's 3 November statement says Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have announced measures on travel to and from Kenya and that it has asked for their justification (KBC, 3 Nov). Saudi Arabia's order, announced on 30 October, bars Saudi citizens from travelling to Kenya, suspends every visa type for travellers from Kenya and refuses entry to anyone arriving from Kenya, including via a third country if they were in Kenya in the previous 21 days (Khaleej Times, 30 Oct). We missed it on 31 October. Kuwait's terms and any effective date were not stated.

🎯 So what: if you hold Saudi or Kuwaiti bookings, ask each guest now whether they can still travel, and agree date changes rather than refunds where you can.

3️⃣ Tanzania's Health Ministry and WHO assessed Ebola readiness in Ruvuma, with no case reported

What happened. The Ministry, TAMISEMI and WHO reviewed infection-control capacity at hospitals in Ruvuma Region on 3 November. The article reports no confirmed or suspected Ebola case in Tanzania. Teams will visit other regions near international borders (Daily News Tanzania, 3 Nov). Ruvuma is far south of the northern safari circuit.
🎯 So what: no entry rule has changed; expect health-team visits in border regions.

🇪🇹 3 Nov: The National Bank of Ethiopia's MPC (meeting 8) kept its policy rate at 16%; the next meeting is end-January 2027. We omit its inflation figures: the 9% headline does not square with its 14.8% food and 15.1% non-food rates (NBE, 3 Nov).
🇺🇸 3 Nov: The US no-DRC passenger declaration starts today for flights from Nairobi, Entebbe and Kigali; we have not seen how it ran.
